The complete redesign and restructuring of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) information website for American hardwoods (www.americanhardwood.org) was both an investment and a risk.
www.americanhardwood.org has been live since the end of 2010 and already visitor numbers have increased dramatically, as has the time visitors spend on the site. When AHEC first launched a website back in September 2000, its primary function was to make available information on key species and access to AHEC's wide range of free publications. But with the significant developments in technology and data available, the new site contains many layers of technically specific information and a plethora of case studies on twenty commercial U.S. hardwood species. This is a feat in itself but what is even more remarkable is that the core of the site is now available in ten languages. Publications can still be ordered for free, but there are now also options to view them as PDFs or instantly download them to PC.
New features include an extensive photo library, videos of AHEC's most creative activities, and a newsletter
